I’d like to thank Samantha Baker, Antic, Uamada, Flinthart, Chez, Stasia, my sister and Amanda for all of the kind support from yesterday. I don’t normally make posts like that one but not hearing from Oprah’s show after clinging to the hope I’d get a phone call definitely stung. I’m the kind of person who always sets their goals for the absolute top, and if they aren’t achieved, no matter how close I get, to me it’s a loss. While I wanted to be at the inauguration in the worst way, there are far worse things in life. I’m extremely fortunate and very pleased the essay Amanda and I wrote did enough to catch the attention of the likes of Oprah – it’s a very positive sign for other things I have planned. And I’m very gracious that Oprah’s producers took the time to call us in the first place.

I suppose I just got caught up in the Phil Donahue way of life. Who could forget his infamous words: ”It’s the fastest who gets paid, and the fastest who gets laid”?

What really matters is that as I write this post George W. Bush is in his final hour of office. I’ve waited eight years for this. No worries, Bush. We have a pretty talented replacement lined up. And America seems pretty excited about his impending tenure.

I suppose that’s one positive thing about Bush’s stint as president. He was so awful that he’s making Obama look fantastic before he even steps into office.

I’ve often wondered what Bush’s final words would be as president. If I had any say, I’d hope he’d select the famous last words uttered by conservative Spanish politician, Ramon Maria Narvaez, when asked by a priest if he had forgiven his enemies:

”I do not have to forgive my enemies. I have had them all shot.”

To a new era…

One good thing about Obama is that others like him. Maybe having him as president will cause other planetary citizens to dislike Americans a little less.

Ewwww, I don’t want to think about Phil Donahue and “getting laid” in the same sentence! *shudder*
Please tell me you didn’t abandon the rainbow ‘fro wig idea.

Maggie Jay: I can understand the world’s criticism. I believe we’re up to the challenge.

Mountain Dweller: Be careful with broad categorizations. Not all American supported Bush. I think the world would be a better place if everyone realized that the actions of a person’s government don’t necessarily follow the will of the people. Americans, overall, are good, decent, and honest people. This past decade some less than noble ones hijacked power. Order has been restored.

Samantha Baker: Don’t pretend you haven’t thought of Phil Donahue in a sexual manner! You just reacted that way because I’m on to you.

Samantha Baker: I don’t blame you. I’d sleep with him too if I were a woman. Then again, I’d probably be a whore if I were a woman.
